“Art does not solve problems but makes us aware of their existence. It opens our eyes to see and our brain to imagine”.

-Magdalena Abakanowicz

The best power is creativity

The most influential pedagogical experience is when teacher and student leave their traditional roles behind and inspire one another to learn together and to grow. My philosophical approach to art education has flourished under the notion of student-centered, process-based teaching.

In my class, students are taught the tools needed to meaningfully solve problems and develop multiple creative solutions. It is important to me that the content delivered to my students covers a broad range of art knowledge that reflects a non-biased understanding of the communities and world we live in. To ensure each of my students exits my class with a broadened mind, I expose them to art history, dive deep into the artistic process, and give them the language to appropriately analyze art works.

Student Work

I am so proud of my students and all they have created. As always, thank you for allowing me to showcase how talented you all are. Eat your Vegetables!

About Me

I’m originally from Michigan, Westside. Yes, I grew up on the sandy freshwater shores of Pentwater, but I’m so excited to have my 5 y/o son grow up on the salty shores of Oceanside! My husband, whom I have been married to since 2014, works for a cryptocurrency wallet called Edge. We are sad to leave family behind but are stoked to be in California!

Sure you can walk the walk, but can you talk the talk?

As an Art Educator with my experience, it’s safe to say I have tried it all. I tend to lean towards ceramics and painting in my free time these days. Though 2020 helped me revisit nearly every media.
