Art Education Philosophy

Motivated by the belief that learning is a reciprocal process, I cultivate student-centered, process-based art education experiences where mutual inspiration fosters intellectual growth and artistic self-expression. I empower students with the tools to meaningfully solve problems and develop diverse creative solutions within a curriculum rooted in an anti-bias perspective. This broad spectrum of art knowledge reflects the richness and diversity of our communities and world, ensuring each student exits my class with a broadened mind.

Understanding that intrinsic motivation evolves with development, I adapt my teaching strategies to facilitate a smooth transition for students, fostering self-directed learning. Through a blend of flexible guidelines and clear expectations, I create a collaborative environment where students learn from each other and exceed expectations. This approach ensures every student's needs are met, allowing the group to grow and flourish.

My personal journey in art education began with a transformative experience in my own 7th-grade art class. Discovering the power of artistic expression ignited a passion that continues to fuel my dedication to empowering young minds. I believe art not only allows individuals to express themselves but also fosters critical thinking and problem-solving skills that translate into every aspect of life. This transformative power is what motivates me to guide students on their own artistic journeys.
